- yes, this is Valentine post -

.... what is it with people and all these masks?

why is it so hard for everyone to just say what's inside their heart,
and just... stick with it.
honour it, somehow.

'cause you know how people pour their feelings out
and then, if they're not loved in return,
they act as if they're all strong and they're so over it.

i wonder if they ever stop to think.
i mean, really, think!

what credibility do they have?
someone who pours they're heart out in such a generous way,
making their feelings seem so true and strong...
and then they're over it... so quickly!

it's a joke.
they make a joke out of their own feelings.

and for what, really?
to feel less vulnerable?

... well, if you really were serious about your feelings,
if you really are in love...
then there's nothing you can do about it...
you are vulnerable.
and everytime that one person passes you by,
you'll inevitably shatter into pieces,
there's no easy way around it.
and there's nothing wrong with that...
it means you do love that person
and that you were honest.

vulnerability goes hand to hand with honesty...
and i'd rather be honest.
no games, no pretending...

  1. Because it is so much easier. Because you do not want to shatter every time someone passes by. Because vulnerability will end up killing you in this world.
And to yourself, you are always honest. You always know how you feel. There is no pretending. It is just for the world that you put up a mask. There is nothing wrong in pretending to the world, if it keeps you safer from harm.

  2. Exacly, but if you are honest to yourself, then you'll shatter no matter what mask you put.
and yes, maybe it does keep you from harm... but "harm" is just one point of view. Sometimes "harm" is just a big rollercoaster, an adventure... you may throw up, but in the end, it sure makes you feel alive.
